Good Evening,
Well, we made it Cincinnati, staying in skivvy hotel just outside the city. Our nice hotel did not have a room for tonight, didn't think about that when we left early.
Anyway, here is today's piece - made yesterday. It's just a whole mess of bright color and fabulous textures. I really love the fabric in the background, it's one of our dyed embroidered cottons. I added even more texture to the piece with the swirly quilting around the flower and the straight line quilting in the upper yellow section. I love how the circular bone beads repeat the circular shape in the background fabric and this delicious color way.

What a bright and beautiful piece!
This is very texture-rich and interesting no matter where you look.
The only real texture it the luscious background, but you have added so much visual appeal with the quilting. The swirls are like wispy extensions of the flower and the linear quilting in the yellow really helps to pop out the bone beads.
I think what's most intriguing to me about this is that I can't decide which is the main focal point and which is the secondary one.
It could be the flower. It's scale and detail and location all indicate that it is the main focal point.
But then there is the purer yellow rectangle which just naturally stands out more than it's shaded counterpart. The circular beads really draw the eye upward- so then I think IT could be the main focal point.
In any case, because they are both strong but in their own ways, I think they balance each other out wonderfully and it's fun to look back and forth to see how it all works!
