Good Morning,
Here is today's new piece. I'm really enjoying playing with circles and line. With this piece I wanted to see if I could pull it off with just one, strong, bold line if I quilted the negative space with lines that moved in the opposite direction to it. I think it works pretty well.
Because of the size of the background, I struggle with wanting to add to much. There needs to be enough background to support the design elements on top and I think that the balance between the two here works pretty well.
I've got a crazy, busy day ahead with critique group this morning, a fabric embellishing class this afternoon and an artist's therapy class this evening.
I'd hate for anyone to see the mess my house is in....

Oh, mess schmess. lol You are a working artist- it would be unrealistic for anyone to expect perpetual order!
This piece is a bit of an enigma to me too. Even though I see orange and red orange- it feels like a completely cool piece to me.
I have a question: does the horizontal stitching line count as a repetition of the blue vertical line? I feel kind of fuzzy on that aspect of design- what counts as repetition, if it isn't obvious.
Your hand-dyes are just delicious in this one. I am assuming all of the fabrics you use are your own, correct? It's all very visually appealing, so full of texture and color variations within each shape.

I so, so, so appreciate your comments on these pieces and that you are using your new found knowledge (using your words!) to describe what your see. Because the horizontal lines move in one direction and the blue green line moves in the opposite direction the one is not repeating the other. The blue line stands alone. I wanted to see if it would feel out of place or not. I think it is the addition of the blue green circles that makes it's inclusion work.
